In recent years, the idea of conscious and environmentally friendly consumption has become more and more popular. Many everyday household cleaning products contain large amounts of chemical materials that, once disposed of, are definitely not environmentally friendly. So here is a suggestion on how to make an economical and environmentally friendly detergent at home.

Homemade detergent: degreasing and effective
The floor is the surface that attracts the most dirt and bacteria. Whether at home or not, walking around with shoes on, cooking or even just dusting shelves, causes dust and dirt to settle and move easily from one room to another.

There are countless floor cleaning detergents on the market and they differ depending on the type of floor, fragrance, finish, etc. However, what few people know is that it is possible to independently create an effective, sanitising and economical floor cleaner.
The main ingredients needed are undoubtedly in everyone’s home and are baking soda, white vinegar and, obviously, water.

The properties of homemade detergent ingredients, why is it so effective?
How can a homemade detergent compete with the best known and most expensive soap brands? Simple, thanks to the properties and qualities of its ingredients.

Baking soda is often used in the kitchen to sanitise fruits and vegetables, precisely because its main properties are antibacterial, antimicrobial and disinfectant. Among other things, baking soda is often used to remove stains and deodorise clothes, as it is a great ally against unpleasant odours.

White vinegar has countless sanitising and disinfectant properties. Although it was created to be used in the kitchen as a condiment, it is also often used in domestic cleaning. In addition to eliminating odours, white vinegar removes limescale, polishes and disinfects, as well as removing stains from fabrics and some surfaces.

Preparing your own detergent is not complicated at all, you just need to dose the ingredients properly to be able to start using a product that will be your great ally in cleaning the house.

How to wash floors with natural ingredients
To begin with, you need a bottle, even a plastic one, which will allow you to shake the mixture you are going to create. Pour 100 ml of water into the bottle, preferably lukewarm to better mix the ingredients. In proportion to the water use half a tablespoon of white vinegar and a tablespoon of baking soda. If you have large spaces to clean you can double or triple the doses, so for 200 ml of water you will need one tablespoon of white vinegar and two tablespoons of baking soda.

Then close the bottle and shake well until the ingredients have combined into a single homogeneous mixture.
If you want a scented cleaner, you can choose essential oils to add while mixing. You will not need to change the proportions of the ingredients if you choose to add essential oils. The advice is to use an essential oil of natural composition, so as not to have too strong, unpleasant or chemical smells.

In this way you will have obtained a natural detergent to clean the floor. The mixture does not require rinsing, just wipe the floor normally with a mop or wrung out cloth and wait for it to dry and enjoy the result.
