Washing machine, you can say goodbye to bleach: we bet you’ll only use this ingredient?

  • by

One of the main concerns when washing in a washing machine is to obtain perfect, perfumed and stain-free garments. Bleach is often used to remove stains and, in some cases, to make garments shinier.

But it is also true that this chemical product often damages the fibres of the garments and is therefore not very popular with those who do laundry. Did you know, however, that you can use a totally natural product in your washing machine with the same results as bleach? Let’s see what it is!

Vinegar in the washing machine – here’s why
Using vinegar in the washing machine instead of bleach or detergent is not only environmentally friendly but also much cheaper. This product can be found in any supermarket at very low prices.

But why use it for washing clothes? First of all, vinegar can brighten up colours: just pour half a cup of it on the clothes before putting them in the drum and that’s it! The colours will be protected and there will be no soap residue.

In addition to this, vinegar can soften clothes. It can be used during the rinse cycle and you will get very soft clothes, even better than using chemical softeners such as those on the market.

As we mentioned at the beginning of the article, it is interesting to see how vinegar can also whiten any white garment, giving it shine and removing stains. In this case we will add half a cup of vinegar during the rinse cycle only with egg whites.

Bad smells and stains
Vinegar is an excellent product to use in the washing machine because it can eliminate bad smells and stains. In the first case we think of mould and smoke, whose odours are very accentuated. With half a cup during the rinse cycle, your clothes will be very fragrant and fresh.

However, as for stains, simply use vinegar to pre-treat them. For example, we can use it in handy sprays and then treat the stains directly before doing the specific washing machine wash – stubborn stains, such as wine or coffee stains, will be easily removed! Remember to leave it on for about ten minutes before washing everything.

Cleaning the washing machine
Finally, vinegar can even be useful for cleaning your washing machine. Limescale and dirt often accumulate in this appliance, which can also lead to breakdowns. With vinegar in the detergent basket, you can prevent this from happening once a month!
