How to clean all types of floors: parquet, tiles and linoleum

  • Linen floor

Linoleum is  a flexible and ecological floor covering , made from natural products such as linseed oil, cork, and even wood flour.

Cleaning a linoleum floor is easy. On a daily basis, you can simply use soapy water, for example opting for Marseille soap. But for deep cleaning, it is recommended to use white vinegar.

To do this, pour 500 ml of white vinegar into a floor of hot water, soak a mop in this mixture and clean your floor.

  • The parquet floor

In a bucket, mix 250 ml of vinegar with 4 liters of hot water. Dip the mop in the bucket and wring it out so that it is damp, not wet.  Mop the parquet floor, paying particular attention to the stains. After finishing cleaning the parquet floor, dry it well using a microfiber cloth. This tip is suitable for cleaning all types of parquet: laminate, raw or oiled.

Note that  white vinegar should not be used pure on parquet.  It must always be diluted with water so as not to damage your floor. Also, do not let your white vinegar solution sit on the wood for a long time. After cleaning the parquet floor, dry it quickly.

Avoid cleaning parquet with hard brushes, as  they can scratch your parquet.  Instead, use soft microfiber cloths.

  • The tiles

Tile gets dirty more quickly than other floor coverings, especially if its tiles are white. Pour half a glass of white vinegar into a bucket of hot water, clean your tiles with a mop and rinse it well with clean water. Don’t forget to dry your tiles thoroughly at the end of cleaning. If your tiles are very dirty, you can add black soap to your preparation. It is  a natural degreaser and stain remover that cleans floors , but also removes stubborn stains and dirt.

Black soap is also suitable for all floor coverings: marble, sandstone, tiles or even slate. Its use is easy. Simply dilute a little black soap with hot water, impregnate a microfiber mop with this mixture and clean the floor.

How to prepare an ecological cleaner to recover the shine of the floor?

To clean and shine your floors in a natural and ecological way, you will need:

  • ¼ cup white vinegar
  • 6 tablespoons of lemon juice
  • 5 drops of lavender or tea tree essential oil

How to do ?

  1. Mix the white vinegar, lemon juice and drops of essential oil in a container.
  2. Stir well and pour your mixture into a bucket of lukewarm water.
  3. Dip your mop in the bucket, wring it out lightly, and clean your house.

White vinegar has anti-microbial properties that help disinfect surfaces, degrease them and remove dirt.  It is also useful for removing bad odors.

Lemon is an effective whitening agent for removing stubborn stains. As for the essential oil, it perfumes your soil. If you opt for tea tree essential oil, it will, in addition to scenting your home, help you get rid of  mold thanks to its antifungal action.

Note that white vinegar is a product that is suitable for cleaning all types of floors, whether tiles, parquet or linoleum.

How to maintain the floor?

To keep your floor clean, regular maintenance is recommended to prevent dirt and dust from accumulating and forming layers that are more difficult to remove. Also,  avoid mixing chemical cleaners with natural cleaners.  This can create chemical reactions and release gases that are toxic to your health.

That said, thanks to natural products, you will be able to restore the shine of your floor, whatever its covering, and without harming your health or the environment.
