How to get rid of mold in the bathroom?

– Eliminate mold in shower stalls, bathtub and tiles

What you will need:

  • Half a liter of water
  • 200 cl of lemon juice
  • 4 tablespoons of baking soda
  • 250 cl of white vinegar

Instructions

In a bowl, mix the white vinegar, water and lemon juice. Stir this mixture well and dip a microfiber cloth in it then apply  the solution to the traces of mold without rubbing  to avoid encouraging the expansion of the spores and therefore aggravating the situation. Leave it on for 20 minutes then rinse with clean water before moving on to the next step.

Now that you have been able to disinfect the surface with the lemon and vinegar, apply a paste of baking soda that you make with a cup of this white powder and a little water. Use a stiff-bristled toothbrush to scrub stained areas, including tile grout and corners. Then let it sit for 1 hour.

All you have to do is rinse the treated surfaces without neglecting the other washable areas. To do this, spread hot water to help eliminate residue  and then let the surfaces dry. It should be noted that the best is to ventilate the room if you have a window or to consider a dehumidifier. Do not hesitate to repeat the anti-mold process if you consider it necessary.

Humidity and mold are among those problems that can be quickly resolved with an omnipresent ingredient in the kitchen which is none other than coarse salt.

Whether you have fabric or plastic shower curtains, they will not be spared from the consequences of humidity. In this case, you will have to involve your washing machine in the cleaning process. To do this, place your shower curtains in the washing machine and turn on the delicate cycle. During the wash cycle, pour a mixture of baking soda and  homemade detergent  into the laundry drawer then add a little white vinegar during the rinse cycle. Without going through the spin cycle, let the items air dry.

How to prevent mold in the bathroom?

As  mold is the consequence of the presence of humidity , one of the best reflexes to adopt is to dry the tiles, the shower curtain and the shower cubicle after use. Also, as mentioned above, ventilation will allow hot vapors to escape instead of letting them float in the air of the room and thus compromise the surfaces. You therefore guarantee  easier air circulation. You can also dry these surfaces with a microfiber cloth to remove excess moisture.

To make the most of these solutions, the key here is to  carry out regular cleaning  and adopt the right actions so that you never have to deal with these unsightly stains again.
