Vinegar is known for its versatility: it can be used in the kitchen, for household cleaning and also has therapeutic properties. It was used as early as 5000 BC as a cleaning product.
The Babylonians were the first to discover the antibacterial properties of vinegar, and also to use it as a food preservative. Vinegar is very rich in properties, and can be used in a myriad of different ways, such as the ones below.
Remove the stickers
Vinegar is one of the most effective remedies for removing stickers and glue residues from various surfaces, especially cars. Simply put some vinegar in a bottle with a spray diffuser, and spray it on the sticker. After a few hours, it will come away on its own.
Prevent the cat from scratching the furniture
Cats scratch furniture to reduce painful growth of their nails. Our four-legged friends hate the smell of vinegar, and this is why mixing two equal parts of vinegar and water allows us to obtain a remedy that, if sprayed on the affected areas, keeps them away.
Natural baby wipes
To prepare them you need: 250 ml of boiled water, 120 ml of aloe vera juice, 120 ml of witch hazel extract, 1 tablespoon of white vinegar, 1 tablespoon of olive oil and 1 tablespoon of Castile soap.
Cut a roll of paper towels in half, then place it face down in a container. Mix all the ingredients then pour the mixture into the container, waiting about 10 minutes to allow it to be absorbed by the paper roll.
Turn the container upside down and wait another 10 minutes, then return it to its initial position. Baby wipes are ready.
Add vinegar to a warm bath
Vinegar can be very effective at disinfecting the body and helping to treat conditions such as candida. Being acidic, vinegar helps expel excess uric acid from the body.
Natural herbicide
The acetic acid in vinegar has herbicidal properties capable of eradicating most unwanted plants. Spray the vinegar directly on the plants to kill them in just a few hours.
Prolong the life of flowers
By lowering the pH of the water, vinegar can prolong the life of flowers, while also reducing the presence of microbes. Mix two equal parts sugar and white vinegar and put the mixture in the flower water.
Clean electronic devices
Having your computer, printer and other electronic devices clean and dust-free is important to ensure their functioning. White vinegar is very effective in this regard.
First make sure the device is turned off, then soak a cloth in a solution of two equal parts water and white vinegar. Wring it out well, and use it to clean the surfaces of the device. Be careful not to let drops fall inside the device.
Clean the shutters
Cleaning blinds effectively can be very difficult, but vinegar can be effective in this regard too. You need a cotton glove and some vinegar. Wet the tips of your fingers with a solution of warm water and vinegar, then slide your fingers between the blinds. Rinse your fingers in a container full of water between one roller shutter and another.
Remove water stains from furniture
No matter how many times you remind people to use coasters, someone always ends up placing the glass directly on the coffee table and other furniture, leaving the classic ring-shaped stain that is difficult to remove.
Mix two equal parts olive oil and white vinegar, then dip a cloth in it, wring it out well, and use it to remove the stain from the wood.
Remove stains from carpets .
For lighter stains, mix two tablespoons of salt in 120ml of vinegar, then rub into the stain and let dry. Once dry, vacuum.
For darker or larger stains, mix two tablespoons of salt and two tablespoons of borax in 120ml of vinegar, rubbing into the stain and allowing it to dry before vacuuming.
