This is an eco-friendly and sustainable gift choice. Unlike many cut flowers, orchids have  a long shelf life if cared for properly  and can be grown for many years. This makes them a lasting gift that can be enjoyed for a long time.

How to Propagate Orchids

Remember that  every orchid is different  and may require slightly different care. Therefore, it is necessary to keep an eye on your plant throughout the propagation process and adapt care to its specific needs.

If we want to propagate orchids from the branches of the flowers of our plants, we can do it with some elements such as: B.  the peel of half a potato. It is one of the excellent organic substances that help sprouts  grow very quickly.

Potato peel

To do this we must put the bowl with 200 ml of water in the blender, then filter and select the flower stalks of the growing plants, because with this treatment they will receive a lot of nutrients.

Then the stem with many small shoots is cut crosswise with a cutter  ,  then we place the stem in a small glass into which the  potato juice  is poured for 20  minutes. In this way, the plant absorbs the necessary nutrients.

Now put a teaspoon of cinnamon in a glass and dissolve it with two fingers of hot water, filter the liquid and add  0.05 liters of water. Moisten a cotton ball with this solution and rub the  juice of the potato peel on the stem placed in water.

This is  to disinfect the plant well  . Then the two ends are closed with the ribbon of a candle. Now moss is used and placed in a plastic tray. It is wetted with cinnamon flavored water,  squeezed well and placed in a fruit bowl with holes for recycling.

Now we can place the sealed stem on top and  cover it with cling film,  then make holes in the film with a toothpick and place it in a cool, lighted place at a temperature of about 25°.

However, direct sunlight should be avoided. Check the moisture content of the potting soil and mist the plant with water regularly.

After just a month we see the plant sprouting,  it needs to be sprayed regularly to keep the stem always moist in the same position. After 4 months our plant is growing beautifully and lushly,  both in the leaves and the roots.

In this very simple way we can  propagate orchids from branches  , placing the plant in an external environment with its own pot in which to  scatter the moss and the plant.
